IMMUNOGLOBULINS SYNTHESIS IS THE DEFINING PROPERTY OF B LYMPHOCYTES A ND PLASMA CELLS. RESTING B LYMPHOCYTES SYNTHESIS ONLY SMALL AMOUNTS OF IMMUNOGLOBULINS THAT INSERTED INTO THE CELL MEMBRANE. PLASMA CELLS ARE SPECIALIZED TO PRODU CE AND SECRETE LARGE AMOUNTS OF IMMUNOGLOBULINS. ANTIBODY MOLECULES HAVE TWO MA JOR FUNCTIONS: ANTIGEN BINDING IS A FUNDAMENTAL FUNCTION WICH DEPENDS ON THE VARIABLE REGIONS LOCATED ON THE Fab REGION OF THE MOLECULE AND Fc REGION INTERESTED IN PLACENTAL TRANSFER, COMPLEMENT FIXATION AND BINDING TO Fc RECEPTORS. BIOLOGICAL PROCESSES (OPSONIZATION, M AST CELL DEGRANULATION, etc.) ARE POSSIBLE DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF RECEPTORS FOR Fc PORTION FOR VARIOUS TYPES ON GI ON CELLS THAT PARTICIPATE IN IMUNITY
IMMUNOGLOBULINS COMPLEMENT Fc RECEPTORS.
