ROMANIAN CITIZENS' PERCEPTION OF GOVERNMENT LEADERSHIP IN THE POST-PANDEMIC PERIOD

Abstract
THIS PAPER PROPOSES TO ANALYZE THE PERCEPTION OF ROMANIAN CITIZENS REGARDING GOVERNMENT LEADERSHIP IN THE POST-PANDEMIC PERIOD, IN THE PERIOD MARCH 2022-MARCH 2023. THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE RESEARCH STUDY IS TO IDENTIFY THE POSITION OF CITIZENS TOWARDS THE LEADER, THE EXPECTATIONS ON WHICH HAVE THEM AND THE WAY IN WHICH THEY PERCEIVE HIS BEHAVIOR. IN THIS CONTEXT, IT WAS CONSIDERED NECESSARY TO CHOOSE A REPRESENTATIVE CASE, NAMELY THE GOVERNMENT OF ROMANIA, THROUGH THE PERSON OF PRIME MINISTER NICOLAE-IONEL CIUCĂ. THE DATA COLLECTION METHOD INCLUDES CONDUCTING A NUMBER OF 25 SEMI-STRUCTURED INTERVIEWS, WITH PEOPLE BELONGING TO THE BUCOVINA, MOLDOVA, ARDEAL, BANAT, OLTENIA AND MUNTENIA REGIONS. THESE SIX REGIONS PRESENT A REPRESENTATIVE AREA THAT CAN LATER BE EXTRAPOLATED TO THE NATIONAL LEVEL. THE METHOD OF DATA ANALYSIS WILL BE REVEALED THROUGH INDUCTIVE THEMATIC ANALYSIS, THROUGH WHICH, FROM THE STATEMENTS OF THE RESPONDENTS, WE WILL ARRIVE AT THE CODING OF THE INFORMATION, AND THEN AT A GENERIC THEME. THE ANALYSIS WILL INCLUDE, IN CONCRETE, THE CITIZENS' PERCEPTIONS ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE LEADER AND THE FOLLOWERS AND THE COHESION AT THE LEVEL OF THE WORK GROUP. BUT EVEN MORE SO, THE WAY IN WHICH THE LEADER'S BEHAVIOR CAN METAMORPHOSE DEPENDING ON THE CONTEXT OF THE EVENTS. THE LINE OF RESEARCH WILL ULTIMATELY LEAD TO THE SYSTEMATIZATION OF CITIZENS' PERCEPTIONS AND THE IDENTIFICATION OF DIFFERENCES BETWEEN LEADERSHIP DURING THE PANDEMIC AND POST-PANDEMIC, IF APPLICABLE.
