ENDOMETRIOSIS IS A COMMON BENIGN DISE ASE, WITH DIFFICULT QUANTIFICATION OF INCIDENCE GIVEN BY THE DELICATE SONOGRAPHIC DIAGNOSIS, WITH LOW SENSITIVITY FOR SMALLER IMPLANTS. THE MAIN METHOD OF DIAGNOSIS IS LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY WITH BIOPSY AND HISTOPATHOLOGY POSITIVE RESULT. USING THIS STANDARD 1.6/1000 WOMEN BETWEEN 15 AND 49 SUFFER FROM ENDOMETRIOSIS, BUT THE UNDIAGNOSED CASES ARE PROBABLY MUCH MORE. PRIOR, IT WAS BELIEVED THAT WHITE WOMEN REPRESENTED THE MOST AFFECTED ETHNICITY, BUT RECENTLY VARIABLE RESULTS WERE OBSERVED. WE REPORT A CASE OF A 28-YEAR-OLD WOMAN WITH A HISTORY OF ENDOMETRIOTIC CYST WHO PRESENTED AT THE EMERGENCY ROOM WITH ACUTE ABDOMEN AFTER SEXUAL INTERCOURSE. MAKING A REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE, WE FOUND FEW CASES OF RUPTURED LARGE ENDOMETRIOTIC CYSTS. THE POSTOPERATIVE EVOLUTION OF THE PATIENT WAS FAVORABLE, WITH GOOD RESPONSE OF TREATMENT AT LATER FOLLOW-UP.
